I couldn’t be happier to announce that erstwhile Washingtonian Lida Husik is releasing new music! I first met Lida at D.C. Space some 30 years ago (gulp!) and have been a fan of her work–and of her!–ever since. After many interstitial moves around the country, we both find ourselves living in lovely Portland, OR, where she engaged me to record some new music and revisit some tracks recorded over the previous decade or so elsewhere. Lida is a huge fan of reverb and other spatial ambiance effects, so we had a blast with many of the vintage tools at my disposal here.
The result is the “Future Ghosts of America” EP (also found on Amazon.com, among other sites), credited to Lida and Danish cellist and singer Soma Allpass. It’s a lovely and haunting collection of tunes, and best of all, only a taste of what’s to come: She’s currently slated to press on with new recordings this Fall! Stay tuned, and in the meantime you can hear a track and read a bit more about “Future Ghosts” via Vinyl District’s glowing review.
